What happens in a treatment of systematic kinesiology? How many treatments? What can Systematic Kinesiology help? What can be treated?Who can benefit? What are the benefits? Will kinesiology interfere with medication? Healing and kinesiology?
What happens in a systematic kinesiology session? You can read all you like about Kinesiology but there is no substitute for trying it yourself. Your kinesiologist will first take a case history. You remain fully clothed in a Kinesiology session. The practitioner will place your arms, legs or head into specific positions and then apply a light pressure on one or more muscles. The quality of response to this pressure determines whether or not there is an imbalance in the muscle-organ-meridian circuit. A muscle test, as used by Kinesiologists, does not measure the raw physical strength. Imbalances even show up on body builders.
Muscle testing gives the Kinesiologist information and feedback from our body about its condition. Since our bodies accumulate imbalances in a certain order, they will return to health quicker if the imbalances are corrected in a certain order. Through muscle testing, a Kinesiologist can assess the order in which to correct the imbalances. Usually, once a priority has been balanced, we will see that other related imbalances disappear immediately. This is why in kinesiology, we always work on the cause and not the effect, therefore restoring balance quicker. The initial "problem" a client comes to be helped with might not be what the body needs balancing with first. Someone might come with a pelvis problem that really stems from a neck misalignment. Somebody else may be emotionally involved in a situation which, through muscle testing, (the body's biofeddback mechanism), apppears not to be the primary cause. Through in depth work, it might be revealed that the root of the condition lies in a lifelong belief which has caused countless emotional imbalances in the person's life. Finally, someone might consult for general fatigue and depression and muscle testing might reveal a number of food sensitivities and a need for nutritional correction. These are just a few examples as every single person is assessed totally in a holistic way.Everybody has his/her own biochemical, emotional, structural and electromagnetic individuality The exact approach you receive depends on the feedback your body gives through the muscle test about what it needs to return to health. The body never lies.
How many sessions? This depends very much on your complaint, how long you've had it, and how fully you participate in your own treatment, i.e. making the recommended lifestyle and dietary changes that often form part of the treatment plan and whether or not you are ready to change ( sometimes inner resistance will delay our own progress). There might be issues or systems in the body which need balancing before being able to address the original condition. Usually, however, most people experience an improvement after one visit and will benefit from a few more according to the condition . It is then recommended that you have routine balances two to three times a year.
What can Systematic Kinesiology help with?
Every health problem will have at least one imbalance. And every imbalance will have at least one component to it (biochemical, emotional, structural and electromagnetic). Finding imbalances and balancing holistically is what Systematic Kinesiology is all about, so it can help with just about anything.
Who can benefit? Everyone! People of all ages - whatever their level of fitness or health - can benefit, including:
Even healthy people will benefit from regular kinesiology treatments. Babies and people who cannot be muscle tested directly can be tested through a surrogate (using somebody else).
What are the benefits experienced by clients? Kinesiology may restore the whole system to balance, facilitating the self-healing process. It can, for example:
relieve physical pain, tension and improve posture,
defuse stress and the causes of stress,
heal traumas,
enhance brain function and co-ordination,
discover individual nutritional needs,
identify food and environmental sensitivities,
find and clear underlying causes of energy blocks/imbalances/ disease,
increase energy and vitality,
prevent illness,
help achieve life goals.
Will kinesiology interfere with medication? Kinesiology is a complementary therapy and, as such, is considered to complement any medication you may be taking. Your kinesiologist will take a case history, including details of any medication. Unless medically qualified, your kinesiologist will not suggest any changes to your medication. Whatever changes you might feel you need, will have to be reviewed with your GP/Consultant as your therapy progresses as well as any supplements recommended.
Healing and kinesiology? I combine a general body balance with vibrational healing.
Laughter Yoga
What is Laughter yoga about? What happens in a Laughter yoga session? What are the health benefits of laughter yoga? Are there any contra-indications to Laughter Yoga? What is Laughter yoga about? The basic principles of Laughter Yoga are that we can laugh for no reason. Laughter is innate whereas humour is learnt. Babies laugh, naturally, even blind babies do. The brain cannot differentiate between what's real or fake. That's been scientifically proven. Fake it, fake it until you make it is the Laughter Yoga motto. Before you know it, you will laugh for real because laughter is contagious. Laughter balances the stress hormones just like crying does. With daily laughter you connect to your inner joy which is totally unconditional. Even when your circumstances are challenging you have the right to laugh for no reason. The only theory needed is the theory of silliness!!! When you allow yourself to get in touch with your inner child and ask your logical brain to have a snooze!
'Laughter is the sun that drives winter away from the human face' Victor Hugo
What happens in a Laughter yoga session? Laughter yoga is yogic breathing combined with laughter exercises. In a Laughter Yoga session, we'll typically start with a warm up, lots of breathing exercises, laughter exercises, a laughter relaxation, lying down on a mat followed by a body/mind relaxation and lots of fun!!!
'Do something wonderful, people may imitate it.' Albert Schwiezer
What are the health benefits of laughter yoga? Deep breathing gives an inner massage to the diaphragm. That relaxes the body, balances the hormones and the neurological centres connected to it and stimulates the lymphatic system and the immune system. Laughter yoga reduces stress, relieves pain, relaxes muscles, empties the lung at a deeper level, oxygenates the body, reduces anger, enhances communication, bolsters morale, inspires creativity, boosts immunity, decreases anxiety, maintains hope!! Dr Lee Berk of Loma Linda university found that 'people expecting to watch a funny movie had 27% more beta endorphins and 87% more human growth hormones hurtling around their blood compared with a control group'. He said that 'laughter diminished the secretion of stress hormones, cortisol and epinephrine, while enhancing immune response. The physiological effects of a single one-hour session viewing a humorous video has appeared to last up to 12 to 24 hours in some individuals' Alok Jha, science correspondent, Monday April 3, 2006, The Guardian
In the program The Young Ones, broadcasted on the BBC in september 2010, scientists measured how a 1 hour laughter yoga session would affect the stress level and blood pressure level of a team of highly stressed ambulance people. As you can see in the link below, the scientist measured a decrease in both stress levels and blood pressure. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00txwgq/The_Young_Ones_The_Science_of_The_Young_Ones/
Norman Cousin is the pioneer of laughing to help our health. He wrote his book about his experience called 'Anatomy of an illness'. Suffering from a degenerative disease of the spine, he checked himself out of hospital were they were filling him with steroids and booked into a hotel room. There he spent time watching funny videos from the era, late 60's, and taking large doses of Vitamin C. He noticed that following a hearty bout of laughter he could have two pain free hours of sleep. In time, he was able to recover from his potentially fatal disease. Humour therapy is used in hospitals in some countries like India and the United States
'Laughter is a tranquilizer with no side effects.' Arnold Glasow
Are there any contra-indications to Laughter Yoga? Laughter Yoga is not a miracle cure and should not be considered as a substitute for medical consultation for physical, mental and psychological illnesses. However, it is a powerful natural complementary form of healing. Laughter may not be suitable for everyone. It involves some physical strain and rise in intra-abdominal pressure. It is contraindicated for people suffering from diseases that are a severe and uncontrolled stage such as:
Advanced (bleeding) piles and haemorroids, Any kind of hernia, Any persistent cough, Anything with acute symptoms, Epilepsy, Heart disease, High blood pressure, (although the blood pressure is decreased after an hour, there is an initial increase), Incontinence, Major psychiatric disorders, Severe backache. People who have undergone major surgery should wait at least 3 months before doing Laughter yoga. If in doubt, consult a medical professional for guidance. Anyone undergoing physician-prescribed therapy that experiences improvements through laughter should seek the advice of their doctor before reducing dosage or stopping treatment.
